JERRY FOLK LESSON

Loyalty is the teaching behind Norwegian musician Jerry Folk’s woozy track ‘Lesson’, featured on his recently released Leisure Tapes EP. It’s a hazy lofi stumble that blends the best of psychedelic funk and electronic soul into this enjoyably weird listen. In many ways, this underdog EP track exposes Jerry Folk’s many influences over the years, which started with Norwegian hip-hop and Michael Jackson records, before this thing we call the Internet introduced electronic music into his life when he was 15-years-old. Unable to find the space for creative expression in Oslo, Jerry Folk found his way to America’s West Coast and there his sound blossomed. His untraditional education in music can be heard in the ripe backbeats, elaborate synths, warm analog crackles, and his mellow take on soul. ‘Lesson’ is a special track that should no be overlooked when you give the EP a much required spin. - Hannah Thacker
